The Armata Festival place   The Armata Festival is one of the most famous events held annually on Spetses Island,  usually in early September. It commemorates the naval battle of Spetses during the Greek War of Independence in 1822. This battle was significant as the Spetsiots, led by local heroes, played a crucial role in defeating the Ottoman fleet. The highlight of the festival is a reenactment of the naval battle, which includes the burning of an Ottoman ship. This takes place in the harbor and is accompanied by spectacular fireworks. The festival includes traditional Greek music, dance performances, art exhibitions, and various cultural events. The festival also has a religious aspect, with a procession and blessings by the church. The calendar of events for the Armata Festival will be posted on the Municipality of Spetses Facebook group approximately one month prior to the event.

Spetsathlon  The Spetsathlon is a popular sporting event held annually on Spetses Island. It is one of the largest and most prestigious triathlon events in the country, attracting athletes from all over the world. The event includes swimming, cycling, and running races tailored to different skill levels and age groups.

Spetses Mini Marathon  The Spetses Mini Marathon is one of the most celebrated annual events on Spetses Island. It is a family-friendly sports festival that has grown in popularity since its inception, attracting participants and spectators from around the world.The event offers a variety of race options to suit all ages and skill levels, including: Running Races: Distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 25 km, taking participants on scenic routes around the island. Swimming Races: Open-water swims of varying lengths, designed to accommodate both beginners and experienced swimmers. This inclusivity ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Spetses Mountain Run “Sotirios Anargyros”  For the first time, a mountain race is being organized on the trails of Spetses, offering runners the unique experience of the island’s stunning transitions between mountain and sea! The race will feature two routes: 20 km (long route) 9 km (short route). Additionally, there will be a 3 km walking route for hiking enthusiasts.

Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta  The Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta is a prestigious annual sailing event held on Spetses Island, Greece. It is widely regarded as one of the most significant regattas in the Mediterranean, attracting classic and traditional yachts, along with sailing enthusiasts from around the world.

Tweed Run  The Tweed Run is a charming and unique annual event held on Spetses Island. It combines cycling, vintage fashion, and a celebration of the island’s scenic beauty and culture. Originating in London, this elegant event has found a perfect home on Spetses, where participants enjoy a nostalgic journey through the island’s picturesque streets.

Agia Paraskevi Festival place   The Agia Paraskevi Festival is a cherished local religious and cultural event held on Spetses Island, Greece, to honor Saint Paraskevi, one of the most venerated saints in the Greek Orthodox tradition. The festival typically takes place on July 26th, the feast day of Saint Paraskevi. The Festival includes a religious service at the picturesque Agia Paraskevi Chapel, followed by a procession of the saint’s icon. After the ceremonies, the celebration transforms into a lively event featuring traditional Greek music, dancing, and local food and wine, bringing together locals and visitors in a festive atmosphere surrounded by the island’s natural beauty.

Agios Mamas Feast place The Feast of Agios Mamas is a significant religious and cultural event celebrated on Spetses Island, honoring Saint Mamas, the patron saint of shepherds and animals. The festival takes place annually on September 2nd, near the small chapel of Agios Mamas located by the sea. The event features the unique tradition of launching handmade miniature boats into the sea.
